  Stumbled on Cooper's by accident while passing through and had the brisket and ribs. They were amazing. Start at the BBq and select what you want and exactly how much. Vats of beans on the end of the room that are self-service and bread on the table.

  This is the best BBQ in Texas. You have the option to point to the exact pieces of meat you want and to specify whether you want the brisket flat, if you have poor taste, or the wet end, which has all the fat and marbling. I prefer Cooper's sides to every other joint I have been to as well, the potato salad is on point, the jalapeno mac-and cheese is great. The other major factor for me is I hate the taste of oak smoked meats, I have always thought it had an acrid taste, the majority of your Texas bbq joints use that wood and some will use pecan, hickory etc... Cooper's uses Mesquite. That's what I grew up on, and in my opinion it is the perfect wood for smoking BBQ.

  Great BBQ, but very expensive and not the best. Beef ribs are probably best and something you can't get everywhere. You pay by the pound, so keep that in mind when ordering from the BBQ pit. It's a good novelty restaurant for people visiting from other states, but real Texans don't eat here regularly. I've taken my family here many times, but we prefer local San Angelo BBQ for less than half the price of Cooper's.

  I got there just in time for lunch. Go early. The lines are long. It was pricey but delicious. I don't think it's just a lunch place. It's an experience. Get some cobbler
